my favorite comment to this is:Craigslist eliminated its personal ads late Thursday after Congress passed a bill that would penalize websites that promote sex trafficking and prostitution, even if the content is posted by a third party.
In a statement, Craigslist — a classifieds site that allows people to post everything from job listings and apartments for rent to community events and debate topics — said it was removing personal ads to avoid jeopardizing its other services. The website added that “any tool or service can be misused.”
so this rocket scientist either thinks that all prostitution is done by a company that is now out of business.Good Riddance to a disgusting company!
or
That craigslist is now out of business because they don't have personal ads any longer.
Anyway, this is our government hard at work spending millions or maybe billions of our tax dollars to try and put a tiny dent in cragslist's popularity.
I just went to craigslist and when you click on the ad sections you get this
US Congress just passed HR 1865, "FOSTA", seeking to subject websites to criminal and civil liability when third parties (users) misuse online personals unlawfully.
Any tool or service can be misused. We can't take such risk without jeopardizing all our other services, so we are regretfully taking craigslist personals offline. Hopefully we can bring them back some day.
To the millions of spouses, partners, and couples who met through craigslist, we wish you every happiness!
