MARKET UPDATES At midday: Markets mainly positive amid prospective ECB stimulus
If the European Central Bank does add stimulus in Nov than a Santa Clause Rally could be in the making.
There must be good oil/gas plays out there.
What about the metals..miners.? They have been hit pretty hard.

There is talk of gold hitting $1000. This would put a lot of pressure on the high cost producers. Maybe time to line up your faves if the market gets smaller.
It's interesting how the world reacts to gold. There are many factors.

Jim Rogers- " One of the best rules anybody can learn about investing is to do nothing, absolutely nothing, unless there is something substantial to do".
When asked why he invests/trades so infrequently, Rogers said " I just wait until there is 'money' lying in the corner, and all I have to do is go over there and pick it up. I do nothing in the meantime." Sage advice!

A CBC report argues that global corruption is a far bigger threat to global growth than terrorism, while using Mexico as an example. Mexico has been attracting auto sector investment away from Canada for a number of years; we’d all rather be competitive on our own merits, but if corruption reverses the investment trend to favour Ontario, I’ll take it.

Stock Market Week Nov 21/14
Out of interest my Portfolio is almost at it's old high.
What is interesting here is....like many other market watchers I wanted to sell...I was afraid. I too was reading about the frothy market ..over bought stocks , world economic problems etc.
I did not sell, right or wrong. The problem when you sell under those fear conditions, is, when do you get back in? Some investors have done that and are still on the sidelines.
It's never easy. A big correction could be in the making.
Age is a factor for me, and preserving what I have is important. I am looking more and more at the best Dividend plays. ie ETF Dividend...even top rated, good long term near 10% return Mutual funds. If a Fund or ETF has had a good long term return the odds are it will continue to do so, unless something changes their course.
What do I know?

Oil not too slick these days and of course our Petro $ is affected but buying ie US buying CDN is cheaper. Also gasoline prices lower so people have more $ to spend elsewhere. Gold hitting new lows.
I might consider a small position ie oil around $60. Oil prices will go up. The bottom..who knows...
