This is to answer some of the questions in the shoutbox.

1. When you are on the home page most/some of the time you will be logged in at the last person on the forum for about the first 5 minutes.

2. The shoutbox is separate from the forum, logging into the forum does not log you into the shoutbox, you have to enter your name there separately.

3. There is some problem with the cache memory and there is a strange 5 minute delay on the site, so if you post something, or change something many times it will not show up for five minutes.

4. I am not sure if I should work on fixing all these problems, or switch to phpBB and see if it works better. I have no idea which would take less time and work better in the long run?  .... still trying to decide.

I would delegate the vast majority of the work to webster. Then it would be easy to try fixing it while bringing phpBB up to speed

That is my backup plan....

Today I contacted the hosting company and they are going to work with me on the type of memory caching that we use,
with any luck this should fix the 5 minute delay problems,

then we can get Webster to take care of everything else at his leisure.

Started working on converting the site to phpBB.
I am not real excited about doing this, and it's going to take tons of hours, but it could fix the problems we are having here.

I am having difficulty with both the log in and log out I simply get a blank screen; I have to go back to the home page via my address history and posting a new topic. All I can do is preview the post, not actually post it. There is no reply button...??????Any ideas??Marli

Is there any way to increase the size of attachments specifically photos or diagrams above the small 128KB size? Is that size setting something the Admin can alter, or is that fixed by Simple Machines at that size?

Weve added a General Promotion forum, which should cover the need for party/software/etc promotion. And hopefully put less strain on the general discussions-forum.

Some quick examples
