Changing Software

Post by Dude » Tue Sep 02, 2014 1:55 pm

At some point in the future we will be upgrading the software this site uses.

It appears that Vbulletin.com has a company policy to try and cheat their customers and lie about their support, so we won't be paying them another $400 so they can treat us like dirt again, once was more than enough.

http://www.simplemachines.org - is the software that it looks like we will be switching to.

from what I have been able to find out it looks like there may be problem with converting the private messages and the avatars. So I would suggest everyone back up any messages or avatars your interested in, because I don't know how much longer they will be here.

When will we upgrade the software?

One of two things will happen,
One - the current software breaks (like it did last year) and I am not able to get it running again. That would cause us to move asap.

Two - I find enough time to do a few test runs at moving the database. This would be a better option because the site would not be down while I was working on it, and there would be more ways to make the move smoother.
