Default New rapidshare policy

New rapidshare policy

As some of you may know, Rapidshare has introduced a new policy from 27th November 2012 which limits the amount of download capacity for an account holder.

Someone with a free account is allowed 1gb of downloads per day, a premium account holder has 30gb per day.

Depending on the size and number of files an account holder has this could result in you getting a message that capacity has been exhausted.

Please do not report these links as there is nothing we can do.

If you get such a message then you must wait 24 hours and try again.

From January 16, 2013 the default access rights for RapidShare folders change. A folder with no specific access rights will be treated as a "private" folder.
In your File Manager you can always check the access right setting of all folders.
Please check the news for more information or contact the support.

Would those members who have uploads on Rapidshare please log into your account and change the file status to Public to allow sharing.

If you are trying to download from Rapidshare and get the message "Download permission denied by uploader"

please do not report these as it is out of our control.

Could I ask for an addition to forum policy?

If someone checks a link and finds it to be rapidshare, could it be forum policy to ask members note that in their thanks post to reveal the link? It would save others a bit of time and stop threads being long pages of thanks for links that are unavailable.

Thanks.

I often do that, and I could not agree with you more. Not sure how successful that would be. I will bring it up at the next board meeting

It is now up to 50 GB a day for account holders and anyone in your Contact list.

Maybe this will help explain more about sharing things.. direct from rapidshare..
-------------------------------------------------------------
You are contacting us because you would like to share a file in your account with
others.
First, you have to make sure that your user alias and folder alias is set. Please
see the account overview on the right hand side: (under your acc. name)

After that, you can set the privileges for a folder in the File Manager:

Please note that you can only set access rights for folders but not for individual
files. You can not set privileges on "My Folder" therefore you have to create a
sub folder and move your files you want to share to the sub folder
. Just right click on the sub folder and choose "Privileges". Please
click on "Shares" and in the line "Public Access" tick the appropriate boxes for:
1. View: Users are allowed to see the folder content.
2. Download: Users are allowed to download data from this folder.
3. Upload: Users are allowed to upload data to this folder.

There are 2 different ways you can share the files with the public. You can
provide the download link to a file or you can provide the link to the entire
folder. On the bottom of the "Privileges" window you can find the folder link or
if you would like to share only one file, right click on the file and share it via
the share option.

If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to contact us again.

Best regards,

RapidShare Support
